Additional Minutes Notes
Regarding modifications to the Policies on Awarding Honorary and Posthumous Degrees, after considerable discussion, a motion to postpone consideration of this policy change till after the Faculty Senate has had the chance to consider it was made and passed. It was recommended that the most-recent edited version of the policy be circulated for such consideration. Regarding the motion on item "Early Childhood Education Course Platform" to grant permission to have the M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education offered in face-to-face format in addition to its current online format, Council members felt that it is unnecessary for Graduate Council to approve such matters, but that they simply can be decided by the particular graduate program faculty, department and school/college. However, Graduate Council (GC) would expect any proposed changes to the catalog description of the degree program to be submitted for consideration to GC, if such changes are submitted in the future. The Graduate Council members confirmed that they see no reason to meet outside of regular fall and spring semesters. Plans were discussed to have the Fall Graduate Council meetings scheduled at a time convenient to all and that would allow for efficient processing of business by the Council of Academic Administrators after completion of Graduate Council meetings.
